Special Tax Bill Permits Tax-free Charitable Transfers from IRAs for People Aged 70 1/2 and Older
On December 18, 2015, Congress passed the PATH Act, which renews and makes permanent the Charitable IRA provision of 2006, making it easier for older Americans to give to cause to causes they care about. This provision has the power to help local charities strengthen their communities by allowing individuals aged 70 ½ and older to transfer up to $100,000 annually from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to charity without being federally taxed.

Women’s Fund grants close to $11,000 in the community
The mission of The Women’s Fund of the Richland County Foundation is to promote philanthropy among women, and to establish a permanent fund to empower women to achieve their full potential.

#RichlandGives Richland Gives is a 12-hour day of giving that encourages everyone to contribute to Richland County’s nonprofits through an online giving platform. Richland Gives will take place on December 1, 2015 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Foundation invests $1.1M in Economic Development

Mid Ohio Drug Prevention Coalition Fund; it will make grants in the community to groups and organizations that actively participate in drug prevention. The committee chose the Richland County Foundation because it wanted to ensure the money was utilized in the best way possible.
Downtown Mansfield Inc. Brickyard Maintenance Fund
An endowed designated fund was established by an anonymous donor to maintain the Brickyard and the DMI building. Earlier this year DMI Inc. launched a $400,000 three-phase construction project.
Fund focuses on healthy and positive lifestyle choices
Community Action for Capable Youth (CACY) recently established a designated fund at the Richland County Foundation. Anyone can donate to the fund at www.richlandcountyfoundation.org

Children benefit from special summertime grants
The Foundation awarded $29,183 to 16 local nonprofit organizations for Summertime Kids programs. Grants of up to $2,500 support creative, educational and fun-filled summer activities for hundreds of Richland County children each year.
Scholarship awards increase this year
Donors of the Richland County Foundation are passionate about education. It represents about 60% of all grants. This year $441,415 was awarded.
Teacher Assistance Program Grant applications due July 10
Teacher Assistance Program (TAP) grants are selected by a community committee for creative and innovative supplemental programs not covered by school funding. The grant applications are due July 10, 2015.

Richland County Foundation scholarship helps local bank manager
She attributes some of her success to a scholarship provided by the Richland County Foundation. She received the scholarship after graduating from Crestview High School and Pioneer Career and Technology Center. She enrolled for classes at North Central State College and over three years earned two associates degrees, one in accounting and another in financial management.
OSU-NCSC host Soul Food dinner
