Scholarship Opportunities

College Scholarships
Since 1958, donors have supported the educational needs of Richland County students through scholarship funds. Although the education horizon has changed since then, the commitment to that support continues.

Consideration Criteria:

  • Richland County resident or graduate of a Richland County high school
  • Achieve a GPA of 2.5+ (for new applicants), 2.0+ (for past scholarship recipients)
  • Demonstrate financial need (determined using the FAFSA Submission Summary/SAI & tuition package)
  • Complete & Send the Permission to Financial Aid Form (PFAO) to the financial aid office at your chosen college.
  • Apply by the April 1st deadline! 

Things You Need to Know:

  • Scholarships are for graduating high school seniors, current college students and non-traditional students.
  • Awards are made for the upcoming academic year (fall & spring semesters only).
  • Awarded scholarships are sent directly to the school you selected on your scholarship application. 
  • YOU are responsible for notifying us of a change in school choice prior to and after award decisions are made. 
  • Use an email address you'll have long-term access to! We'll email you reminders, questions & award notifications.

Changing Colleges?

We get it, sometimes your plans change! Please note, a change in college choice after a scholarship is awarded could result in a reduction of amount or loss of award.

If you have applied for or were awarded a scholarship for the upcoming year and you're changing schools, here is what you need to do to determine your further eligibility:


Career Technical Education (CTE) Scholarships
Commitment to education goes beyond college scholarships! Richland County Foundation Board of Trustees also awards scholarships to individuals who want to obtain certifications and credentials at accredited technical institutions. In aligning with Ohio’s Attainment Goal we want to help fill the gap between job openings and certified employees and lead the way to support workforce development through Career Technical Education scholarships.

Consideration Criteria:

  • Richland County resident or graduate of a Richland County high school
  • Be pursuing post-secondary education goals at an accredited CTE institution
  • Demonstrate financial need (determined using the Student Aid Report & tuition package)
  • Complete ALL required steps of the checklist 
  • Apply anytime between January 1st and December 31st deadline!

Things You Need to Know:

  • Scholarships are for graduating high school seniors, current CTE students and non-traditional students.
  • CTE Awards are made for the duration of your chosen program, under the condition you are still enrolled.
  • Awarded scholarships are sent directly to the school you selected on your scholarship application. 
  • Use an email address you'll have long-term access to! We'll email you reminders, questions & award notifications.
  • CTE scholarship applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Award determinations are made once the student has submitted all required information and documents.

Mansfield Aviation Club Scholarship

The Mansfield Aviation Club (MAC), established in 1949, a 501c(3) organization,  provides aviation scholarships.  

Throughout its history, the Mansfield Lahm Airport has served our community by being one of the finest general aviation airports in our state. The cost of flying has become more expensive, many who had the dream to become a pilot may have found it beyond their financial means. MAC scholarships can help people fulfill their dream and keep general aviation in our community vibrant into the future.

Consideration Criteria:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Live in Richland County or a contiguous county
  • Be at least 16 years of age by the application deadline
  • Hold a current FAA Student Pilot Certificate at the time of application
  • Apply by the April 1 deadline

Helen Keating Ott Scholarship 

This Scholarship is offered by the Friends of the Mansfield/ Richland County Public Library, Inc. and Richland County Foundation to graduates of Richland County High Schools or residents of Richland County pursuing graduate degrees in the area of Library and Information Science.

Consideration Criteria:

 

 

Sandy Mazur/Spherion Excellence in Leadership Scholarship

  • This legacy scholarship has been created to recognize and honor the contribution of Sandy Mazur to Spherion and the Spherion franchise community by recognizing individuals pursuing a post-secondary education who best represent the qualities of excellence and passion during her distinguished career at Spherion.

    Annually, recipients will be chosen to receive financial assistance in achieving their goals of higher education. The selected recipients will reside in a county owned by a Spherion franchisee

    Consideration Criteria:

    • Must be an individual pursuing a degree or certificate at a Career Technical, 2-year or 4-year institution
    • Applicants achieve a 2.5 GPA or above 
    • Applicants must include the current year's FAFSA Submission Summary (generated by completing FAFSA), so long as it is required for their program.
    • Apply by the April 30 deadline

Region 4 District Civitan Scholarship

"The Region 4 District Scholarship supports applicants of the Region 4 District of Civitan International. Each Civitan Club helps its own community where the need arises. Civitans have been helping people since the organization's founding in 1917, by a group of businessmen determined to make a difference in their community. For more information visit: civitan.org

Consideration Criteria:

  • Must be enrolled/accepted at an accredited institution for post-secondary coursework (community college, CTE, two or four-year degree programs, and graduate school candidates are all eligible).
  • Candidates must be a member or related to a member of Region 4 District Civitan. (Campus and Junior members are acceptable).
  • Apply by the January 31 deadline
