#RichlandGives Spotlight: Heartland Academy
Together we can make a difference.
Heartland Academy is a registered 501©(3) public charity. We provide education and therapies for children on the Autism Spectrum. We are leading the way with new and innovative concepts in education and therapy. Heartland Academy is a Floortime ™ school which uses a positive reinforcement concept in education and is the first of its kind in Ohio. We are providing hours of therapy a week for our students, not minutes. We are also adding vocational programs so our students will have marketable business skills when they graduate from our program.
“We are not interested in teaching our students how to change trash and mop floors. We are interested in teaching our students marketable business and life skills.” Mr. Robert Neumann, program director, intervention specialist.
With our school being so new, we have a lot of things we are trying to accomplish in a short period of time. Just like any charitable organization, obtaining the funds necessary to properly fund the programs is a challenge. We want to provide the best services in the nicest environment possible. Just think, a summer program with air conditioning! Everything is new and bright and happy.
“We have poured our hearts and our resources into this project. We want to make a difference for these children and their families.” Dr. Rock Webster
Any contributions you can provide will help add therapy equipment and help us realize our goal of a 6,000 s.f. sensory gym. We would like to make this a community effort.
